Autism is a neurological disorder where the child typically appears normal for the first few months of life. It is four times as prevalent in boys than girls. A family with one autistic child has a five to ten percent chance of having another autistic child. It is a developmental disorder that has many symptoms.

Children are typically labeled Autistic if they are non-verbal.

Children who are verbal (sometimes very verbal) are typically labeled as having Asperger's Syndrome.
