Celebrities who are
bringing more autism awareness include the following:
Oprah, Jenny McCarthy,
Holly Robinson Peete. On
Tuesday, September 18, 2007, Oprah had Jenny McCarthy and Holly
Robinson Peete as guests and the topic was autism.
McCarthy wrote a book, Louder Than Words: A Mother's
Journey in Healing Autism, to give the message of hope,
faith and recovery based on her own experience with her autistic
son, Evan. Peete also
talked about her son who has autism and how she has tried every
therapy for her son and discovered his talent for music because of
his ability to recognize perfect pitch.
Another celebrity, Jon
Stewart, anchored a special to raise funds for building a new wing
where future teachers can be trained for teaching children with
autism.
Thanks to these
celebrities, autism is being brought into people’s consciousness
that hopefully will lead toward more research for this disorder.
