Sensory affectional
deprivation syndrome illustrates the importance of nurturing a
newborn from birth onto adulthood.
That is, cuddling, rocking, carrying, hugging and all
these acts of affection are not a “want” but a “need”
for healthy growth in a child.
Research has shown
that depriving an animal from maternal care makes that animal
grow up with emotional and social problems.
This research may be translated to a human child and how
depriving a child from affection can make that child have all
kinds of problems such as violence.
This is evidence of
how sensory affection is extremely important in rearing a child.
